Rebuilding Monterosso

Just wanted to share an email we had recently from one of our vendors, The Hotel Porto Roca, in Monterosso, part of the Cinque Terre. You will recall perhaps that they endured a devastating flood in that region late last year:

"Thank you for your kind mail. Monterosso is recovering very quickly, a lot of work has been done and a lot of work has still to be done. Some shops have reopened. As far as the hiking trail nr 2 is concerened, the National park should start within the next days with repairing. Your customers can understand certainly facing a natural disaster so unpredictable, we are not able to estimate the recovery time of the paths. The Via dell'Amore path ( between Riomaggiore and Manarola ) is ok, as Manarola-Corniglia. The biggest detriment is between Monterosso and Vernazza. The safety will take time and money and is in everyone's interest to make sure that everything gets back to normal as soon as possible because the paths are the most business for our area.

We don't know the timing of recovery because is very difficult to evaluate but we can suggest a site constantly updated on the work www.rebuildmonterosso.com/

For any further questions please don't hesitate to contact the hotel. With our best regards, HOTEL PORTO ROCA"
