On Matters of Life, Time, and Family...

Two friends have passed away this week, one day apart. One of them was well into his 80's and had lived a full life. The other was relatively young in her mid-to-late 40's. Both were people who were loved and respected, but who lived very different lives. They were another reminder, though, that life is short, and we should make the most of every day! It's important during these times to re-evaluate how we spend our time, especially since we cannot get it back. Ultimately, we always decide that we should spend more time with family and friends, because it is the relationships we have that will matter most in the end.

At QueensLander, we've had a number of entire families in recent years that have demonstrated their commitment to one another by taking an entire trip together, as a family. These have been relatively large groups of extended family that have somehow coordinated their time and schedules to be able to travel to Italy or Australia together. My extended family is relatively small, and we've never been able to get together on anything like that, so I'm really impressed with any family that can pull this off! And when they get back, you can just tell from their photos what a great time they had together. It probably is a "once-in-a-lifetime" trip for them, but the point is they managed it by making it important and pulling together as a family, reconnecting with their roots, and experiencing something new together.

We can plan the same type of itinerary for you, but whether you ever make one of these trips or not, the important thing is to remember to use your time wisely and do something significant for those you love.
